Thanks to all who participated, helped coordinate, donated, sponsored, and volunteered during Sustainability Week 2009. It was a great success. Moving forward, Sustainable Blacksburg is currently working on two local initiatives;

New River Valley Local Food Coalition
Sustainable Blacksburg has partnered with the Blacksburg Farmers Market to start an NRV local food coalition to promote sustainable and local food awareness throughout the region. We hope to work with local merchants and restaurant owners to start sourcing more local foods downtown, as well as raise awareness about the Blacksburg farmers market and the importance of buying and eating local foods!
The first general membership meeting will be in January, time and date TBA, check back for updates.

Partnership with VT Hybrid-Electric Vehicle Team
Sustainable Blacksburg has recently partnered with the VT Hybrid Electric Vehicle team to promote alternative transportation in the Blacksburg and campus communities. More updates to come!
