Beginner Bee Keepers Course
Members of the New River Valley Beekeepers' Association will present a Beginning Beekeeper's Course at 220 Price Hall on the Virginia Tech Campus, Blacksburg, VA. The course covers everything a beginner needs to know to start keeping honey bees, and lasts two Saturdays: the first will be 29 January 2011 to enable students to learn how to acquire honey bees and equipment in time to get them for use this spring; the second date is 2 April and will include hands-on time in an apiary.  Those interested can view a syllabus and/or sign up on-line at www.nrvba.org (click on "Join NRVBA" on the left edge and scroll down).  Address questions to Jerry Borger, 540-382-1798.

The program will include highlights of some great places to visit close to home, how to identify environmentally-friendly lodging, restaurants and attractions through the "Virginia Green" program and other tips for greening your vacation. Attendees can share their own tips and register to win a "green" prize to jump-start your next vacation.
