Seeking volunteers for the YMCA at Virginia Tech’s Third Annual Ytoss? Collection May 3-8. Ytoss? seeks to reduce waste and the number of items going into landfills during Student Move Out. The YMCA at Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech Recycling, the Department of Residence Life, the Town of Blacksburg, Sustainable Blacksburg and other campus and community based organizations are partnering for this year’s Ytoss? event. To make this year’s collection successful, we need community volunteers to help with sorting and cleaning of donations each day at the Y Center on North Main Street, in addition to volunteering at campus Collection Points. This event, while becoming a tradition, takes place because of the strides our community is making to become sustainable. To find out more about volunteer opportunities, please contact the YMCA at 231-3734 or ymcasp@vt.edu.
The mission of the YMCA at Virginia Tech’s Ytoss? program has been simple from its humble beginnings: to reduce waste on campus and keep items out of our local landfills. Our Third Annual Ytoss? Collection will take place at six conveniently located drop off points near residence halls between May 3 and May 8, 2008 from 10am – 5pm. Click here for more information.
