Sustainable Blacksburg is working with the Greenway/Bikeway/Sidewalk Corridor Advisory Committee from the Town of Blacksburg to improve and incentivize bike travel and greenway development in our area. The committee is currently drafting a grant application to Bike Belongs, a national organization sponsored by the U.S. bicycle industry with the goal of putting more people on bicycles more often, (http://www.bikesbelong.org) to help fund a Blacksburg bicycle loop project that will promote usage of sharrows, or shared-road markings, so that bicycles are acknowledged as a means of transportation on roadways around town.
