Single-Stream Recycling

In Blacksburg, Virginia the following can be recycled at the YMCA Center at 1000 North Main Street:

"Both commingled containers and mixed paper are accepted here along with additional materials including #1 - #7 rigid plastics such as tubs, trays, & cups, clear plastic film contained in one bag, hard plastic items such as milk crates and buckets, and aseptic juice boxes."

  1. Soft-drink bottles, water bottles, most salad dressing bottles, peanut-butter jars, vegetable-oil bottles, oven-safe cooking trays, some jam jars
  2. 5-gallon juice or water bottles, milk jugs, some butter and yogurt tubs, some bags inside cereal boxes
  3. Mostly used for non-food items (such as blister packaging), electrical cable piping, vinyl records
  4. Frozen-food bags, some squeezable bottles, bread bags, cling wrap, grocery and sandwich bags, flexible container lids
  5. Reusable microwave containers (such as Tupperware), margarine tubs, yogurt cups, cottage-cheese tubs, dip tubs, syrup or ketchup bottles, drinking straws, microwaveable disposable containers (such as Lean Cuisine trays), plastic disposable cups and plates, some kitchenware (such as plastic spatulas)
  6. Plastic foam egg cartons, disposable cutlery, plastic foam coffee cups, meat trays, disposable carry-out containers from restaurants
  7. Some beverage bottles and baby milk bottles

Electronics and Batteries

In Blacksburg, Virginia electronics, including computers, and batteries can be recyced at the YMCA Center at 1000 North Main Street. The dropoff place is behind the building, with entry from the north side.

Packing Materials

In Blacksburg, Virginia the following packing materials can be recycled at Easy Way Packaging Center at 610 North Main Street:
